Items/Skills Needed To Start: Pick Axe to mine Rune Essentials

Starting Location: Second floor of Lumbridge Castle

Reward: 1 Quest Point, free Teleport to the rune essence by speaking to either Aubury or Seridor

Instructions:

1. To start the quest speak to Duke Horacio who is located on the second floor of Lumbridge castle.
   
   
2. He will tell you to give a rare air talisman to the Head Wizard who is located in the Wizard Tower. You will find him in the basement.
   
   
3. He will give you an item that you must give to the rune shop seller in Varrock, he is in the slums.
   
   
4. The rune seller will give you some findings to give back to the wizard. Go to the head wizard again.
   
   
5. Congratulations, you have completed the first RS2-introduced quest.
   
   
   
   

1. To make runes you will need to mine a rock called rune essence, to find this rock you will of needed to do the Rune Mysteries Quest as the wizard and the rune seller now have the ability to teleport you to the Rune Essence Rock. YOU WILL NEED A PICK FOR THIS JOB. Now you are right infront of a large magical rock, mine it until you have as many blank runes as you want. 5 xp for each one mined and it takes around 1 min 10 to mine 28 with a addy pick
   
   
2. Creating Magic Runes: Now that you have all these blank runes you will need to charge them. Currently I only know how to charge an air rune. Using your Talisman which you will now need. Right Click it and select locate, it will tell you which direction the rune charging area is. I will not tell you where it is as it won't be much of a surprise, you are however looking for a strange rocky disk with henges around ruins around it. When you reach the correct ruin use your talisman on it and you will be teleported to the air shrine, or if you are further than me the shrine of the rune you would like to make. Right click the shrine and select "make air runes" now that all your blanks runes are air runes you can now go forward and make more powerful runes. I made 18 runes when I got to level 2 rune crafting. The next rune you will be able to make at level 2 is mind runes.
   
   Lvl1: Air runes - air alter is south of falador
   
   Lvl2: Mind runes - mind alter is north of falador between ice mountain and goblin village
   
   Lvl5: Water runes - water alter is south of lumbridge
   
   Lvl9: Earth runes - earth alter is north-east of varrock
   
   Lvl20 : Body runes - The body alter is east of Ice Mountain between Barbarian Village and Ice Mountain
   
   
   
3. Obtaining Talismans To enter the shrines you will need the correct talisman, here is a list of known monsters that drop them.
