Hatchets

OK, your basic and most vital tool is your hatchet. I have listed them in order, starting with the worst, below, with suggested levels of woodcutting. You don't need a black hatchet, I never used one and they cost an INSANE amount of cash:

Hatchet Type Recomended Woodcutting Level for Use Picture

Trees

As you progress in Woodcutting, you can cut better trees. You start off with "Tree", move through "Willow" then to the fabled "Magic" (but not that directly). This list is of each tree, level to cut and experience gained from cutting 1 log. Please note, normal trees have two types. The only difference is appearance. Also, Magic trees have a sparkle in the round, bulbous part at the top.

Hints

There are two types of normal trees; both are identical in everything except appearance.

Cut all normal trees in Draynor Forest, then move to the Seer's Village for everything else.

When you reach level 15, don't level on Oak straight away. You won't get it often enough.

Only carry a hatchet and equip it so you can hold 28 logs.

When you get to Willow, Maple, Yew or Magic, bank all your logs. You can sell them.

When cutting regular logs, take a knife and fletch them into arrowshafts. This gives Fletching XP and cash.

If you can afford one, get a rune hatchet soon. It makes it considerably easier.

If you don't have a rune hatchet by the time you're cutting Maple, GET ONE.

Recommended Training Guide

Before I write this, I would like to say: I was level 78 Woodcutting when I wrote this. I think I should know what levels are good to train on which tree Also, while this may not seem a good idea, you average more experience per 100 logs using my method. Thankyou.

Lvl 1-25 : Normal Trees
Lvl 25-50 : Oak Trees
Lvl 50-75 : Willow Trees
Lvl 75-90 : Maple Trees
Lvl 90-99 : Yew Trees

When you're level 15, you can be excused for cutting your first Oak log.

When you're level 30, you can be excused for cutting your first Willow log.

When you're level 45, you can be excused for cutting your first Maple log.

When you're level 60, you can be excused for cutting your first Yew log.

When you're level 75, you are obliged to cut your first Magic log.

Money Making Methods All My Tips!

Until you get to level 50 Woodcutting, you cant really make any money off it. I suggest either power cutting, which gets a lot of Woodcutting XP but nothing else, or taking a knife with you and cutting the logs into Oak Longbows / Shortbows, leaving them unstrung, dropping them and cutting another batch, which gets less XP, but gets some experience on Fletching too.

At level 50, the way to go is Willow. Follow the Willow brick road. Cut and bank between 2,000 and 4,000 Willow logs (which isnt all that much), and youll end up at about Level 60. Once youve sold it, go back to the Seers Village and chop another batch of it (I recommend having a break between batches or you get bored and stop levelling it), then sell it. Repeat this until at least Level 70, but ideally Level 75.

Now youre into the cash. Already rolling in it, you can make EVEN MORE now! Use the maple trees behind the bank and chop around 2,500-5000 maple logs. These pretty logs sell for 200-300gp per! And you have just got yourself a whopping great 500k-1.5m cash! Whats more, your Woodcutting level has skyrocketed to new heights, ranging from 77 to 80, depending on how much maple you cut. All those certs will sell for a nice bit of cash to top up your dwindling reserves and youre in the top 800 Woodcutters! (At the time of writing).

Hazards

There are several random events in RS2, such as ents appearing, and Tree Spirits. Ents are great big tall things that appear instead of the tree. Hard to miss. If you cut them, theyll either break the head off your axe pick it up and use with axe handle) or bend the axe (take it to Bob in Lumbridge). Tree Spirits are the offensive monsters that attack you. If you want, kill them and theyll drop some natures (up to about 30), or just run away from them.

Low Prices

As you cut each log, you want to sell it, right? OK, then you wanna look at this section, so you dont rip yourself off! Remember that its only a rough guide, and everyone has different prices.

Log Amount Price P/Log Amount Price P/Log
Normal 500- 20-30gp 500+ 25-40
Oak 500- 30-60gp 500+ 40-70
Willow 500- 80-100gp 500+ 90-120
Maple 500- 200-230gp 500+ 200-260
Yew 250- 550-650gp 250+ 600-700
Magic 100- 900-1050 100+ 1000-1100

It is sometimes possible to buy/sell for different prices. I once bought about 200ks worth of logs for 50k, but thats just luck. Hope this little table helps.
